On Thursday, November 16, the XXII International Festival-Competition of Children's and Youth Journalism, "Press Spring on the Dnieper Slopes," kicked off in Kyiv, continuing its 22-year tradition. Every year, young journalists from Sweden, the USA, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Azerbaijan, and other countries submit their works to the competition. Over the festival’s existence, more than 19,000 works have been received by the "YUN-Press" Information and Creative Agency of the Kyiv Palace for Children and Youth.
The theme for the 2024 competition, "This is How I See the World," and the main stages of the contest were announced by the project manager, head of the "YUN-Press" department at KPDU, Nadiya Illyuk.
According to her, the winners will be determined in seven categories: journalistic work, literary creativity, print publications, audio art, visual art, media project, and online journalism.

Young people aged 9 to 21 are invited to participate in the competition. The registration form must be completed by April 1, 2024.

"For 22 years, Press Spring on the Dnieper Slopes has united young people eager to test their skills in journalism, acquire new competencies, and learn from media professionals. This career-oriented event allows participants to explore professions such as TV and radio journalism, camerawork, photography, public speaking, and blogging. Many past winners of Press Spring are now experienced media professionals, delivering crucial information to Ukrainians 24/7 during wartime and keeping the international community informed about events in our country.
Our young generation is also actively involved in spreading information about ruscism’s war against Ukraine, the brave and unyielding fight of our Defenders, the unity of the Ukrainian nation striving for Victory, and the personal stories of Ukrainians whose lives were forever changed by the full-scale invasion. Their thoughts, memories, and interviews have been brought together in the project ‘War Diaries,’ launched last year during the XXI International Festival-Competition of Children's and Youth Journalism, ‘Press Spring on the Dnieper Slopes,’” said Olena Fidanian.
In conclusion, she emphasized that the city authorities fully support and will continue to support youth events that help young people realize their potential, choose their professional path, and connect with peers from different countries and continents in their shared aspiration to make the world a better place!
